How do I find the ideal profitable Niche? Many people seeking to earn money online ask this question every day. The answer is very simple and this article is going to outline how you should go about finding a great niche that will allow you to earn a substantial income stream on an ongoing basis.
Picking the right online niche is probably one of the most important decisions you will make for the direction of your online efforts. You don't want a niche which is too competitive as it will be too difficult to make money. On the flip side of that a niche with too few customers will not make you enough money to justify your efforts. The ideal niche will be a combination of having a large number of paying customers without having too much competition.
To begin the process you need an idea. You should also visit the Google trends website and make a note of what people are searching for.
Once you have worked out a niche that interests you, you will need to check out it's stats. Type in your main keyword for the chosen niche into a keyword tool and see how many searches it has per month. It's best to find a niche with over 10,000 searches per month, and obviously the more your niche gets the better.
Now you need to check what level of competition you can expect in the niche. You can do this in Google, Yahoo, MSN or other search engines. Start by typing in your main keyword to the search box surrounded by quotes. On the sidebar there should be a total number of results for that search query.
With Google you should be trying to stay under 1,000,000 results. On Yahoo try and keep it under 500,000 and with MSN keep this number below 300,000. This will keep your competition to a minimum, which helps you grab a big slice of the traffic. These figures are a guide to go by, and are the ones I use. Different internet marketers will have different ideas of what constitutes a busy site.
When you have found a niche that fits into the criteria outlined above do a Google search on that keyword and see what other people are selling, or if there are people selling anything at all. You may find a niche that is saturated with so much free information that it would seem impossible to sell anything at all. This will depend on the quality of the information. If it is all junky spam you may be able to provide the only quality information in the niche, and people will pay for that rather than wade through all the rubbish.
Once everything has checked out you are ready to start building your product or hunting for a suitable affiliate product for that niche. You need to concentrate on keeping your momentum going. If you are persistent you will soon have a portfolio of niche targetted websites that bring you a fantastic monthly income.
